Reversed Lens Photography Studios specializes in fresh, boutique portraiture for every stage in life. Our passion is capturing the emotion inherent in the human experience-- the first days of babyhood, the jubilance of childhood, the awkwardness and anticipation of the teenage years, the sweetness of love and the beginnings of a life together-- and then translating those moments into heirloom-quality art.

Our blog is a combination of all of those moments. We highlight the latest sessions from our portrait and event work, as well as little glimpses into what drives our creativity and passion. Sometimes that's a product or vendor that we're thrilled to have stumbled into, or it might just be moments from our life that we felt compelled to share.

More than anything, we hope that you'll feel our passion: for beauty, even in the most unexpected places, for uniqueness, but most of all for the true, beautiful joy of real life.

Come see your life through a different lens with us today!

Perri and Corey at the Crown Ballroom • Portland Oregon Weddings

Perri and Corey have one of those stories that make me kind of believe in fate: they met in Mexico, on vacation, while they were each with their individual families. They had an instant connection and spent the rest of the time inseparable. But Perri is from Toronto and Corey is from Portland and you’d...

Jason, Angela, Lucy & Lillian • Portland Oregon Portraits

I know that this commentary has the capability to sound just a little bit redundant but I just have to say it again: the world is SO SMALL when you’ve lived in one town your entire life. Case in point: last fall, I was perusing the wares at our daughter’s school auction when I saw...

2011 Senior Portrait GIVEAWAY (aka win a free iPod Touch!)

It’s hard to believe that back to school time is almost here. I remember my mom telling me when I was a little girl how time seems to speed up as you get older. I used to think, “Yeah, right, it’s taking me forever just to grow tall enough to go on all those cool...

Brigitte & Eric and the bridges of Portland • Portland Engagement Sessions

Over the last several months we’ve been thinking about weddings here at RLPStudios. (Full disclosure: I’ve been subscribing to Martha Stewart Weddings since the inaugural issue. But I digress). We photographed a lot of weddings last season and had an amazing time. We noticed something, though, along the way: with our portrait clients, we’re able...

Pat, Laurie and Emma • Portland Family Portraits

We photographed Pat, Laurie and Emma for the first time about a year and a half ago. Emma was, then, an adorably chubby cheeked baby who I literally couldn’t stop kissing for the entire session. She was just that sweet. We photographed her at home, in her bedroom, and in their backyard in the grass...

As close to home as it gets

We’ve been doing a lot of rearranging things in our life lately and that’s included our home. Our little girl is now four and was determined to get a “girly room” instead of the childhood hodgepodge that it had become. I did my best to scour the shops and somehow found a combination of purple...

The many sides of senior portraiture • Portland Oregon Photographers

One of the things that I love about being a photographer in the Pacific Northwest is the prolific variety of backgrounds that we have to use for our clients. Within literally minutes of the downtown, urban Portland metropolitan area there are fields and forests, and past that is the Oregon Coast and the Cascade Mountains...

Josh & Emily’s Military Wedding at the Abernethy Center

A month and a day ago, RLP Studios photographed what was one of the most fun, lively, emotional, and lovely events of our studio’s history: the wedding of Emily Brock Jones and Josh Jones. We had met them as we do many of our couples, through an online wedding resource, but their situation was a...

Introducing Lacey • 2011 Southridge High School Senior Rep

There is only one word that I can think of that really describes Lacey: she is SASSY. She’s a total fireball, full of energy and also a total crack-up (you just know that there’s a practical joke or witty thought brewing in her head pretty much 24/7). She was the first of our senior representatives...

Introducing Ellie • 2011 Oregon Episcopal School Senior Rep

We have done most of our senior sessions this year down in the inner SE Portland industrial district, where our studio is located (yes, right in the middle of all of the construction for MAX!), but for Ellie we made an exception. She has a CRAZY schedule– she was just in the school play, she...
