Reversed Lens Photography Studios specializes in fresh, boutique portraiture for every stage in life. Our passion is capturing the emotion inherent in the human experience-- the first days of babyhood, the jubilance of childhood, the awkwardness and anticipation of the teenage years, the sweetness of love and the beginnings of a life together-- and then translating those moments into heirloom-quality art.

Our blog is a combination of all of those moments. We highlight the latest sessions from our portrait and event work, as well as little glimpses into what drives our creativity and passion. Sometimes that's a product or vendor that we're thrilled to have stumbled into, or it might just be moments from our life that we felt compelled to share.

More than anything, we hope that you'll feel our passion: for beauty, even in the most unexpected places, for uniqueness, but most of all for the true, beautiful joy of real life.

Come see your life through a different lens with us today!

Sara & Brian’s Wedding in the beautiful Yakima Valley

Sara and Brian found us through the magic of the internet last fall and I am so incredibly grateful that they did! They live in Seattle and we got to meet them a few times throughout the ensuing months, and they were so lovely that we were really excited when it came time to finally...

Perri and Corey at the Crown Ballroom • Portland Oregon Weddings

Perri and Corey have one of those stories that make me kind of believe in fate: they met in Mexico, on vacation, while they were each with their individual families. They had an instant connection and spent the rest of the time inseparable. But Perri is from Toronto and Corey is from Portland and you’d...

Brigitte & Eric and the bridges of Portland • Portland Engagement Sessions

Over the last several months we’ve been thinking about weddings here at RLPStudios. (Full disclosure: I’ve been subscribing to Martha Stewart Weddings since the inaugural issue. But I digress). We photographed a lot of weddings last season and had an amazing time. We noticed something, though, along the way: with our portrait clients, we’re able...

Josh & Emily’s Military Wedding at the Abernethy Center

A month and a day ago, RLP Studios photographed what was one of the most fun, lively, emotional, and lovely events of our studio’s history: the wedding of Emily Brock Jones and Josh Jones. We had met them as we do many of our couples, through an online wedding resource, but their situation was a...

Four questions to ask BEFORE hiring a wedding photographer

(This article is originally from an industry website that featured Mark Greenstone of Majestic Photography. His points were just too perfect not to share.) “Mark,” I ask, pen poised over my notebook, “if I’m looking for a wedding photographer, what questions should I ask?” Mark looks thoughtful. “Couples are mostly asking the right questions,” he...

Rachelle & Doug’s destination wedding in the Dominican Republic

Most of RLP Studio’s portrait and wedding work has been in the Pacific Northwest but of late, we’ve been getting more inquiries to take our photography work a little farther from home. Our first destination wedding (apart, of course, from the Oregon coast) was earlier this month in the Dominican Republic, in the beautiful resort...

Perri & Corey’s Waterfront/Eastbank Esplanade Engagement Session

I love the location of our SE Portland studio. It’s right in the midst of the industrial district, with so many fun backgrounds that I can easily walk within a 20 block radius and find something fun! But one of the things that I love best is that the Willamette River is so close. Corey,...

How to look your best in photographs • Portland Oregon Photographers

One of my good friends, Charlotte Geary is a wedding and portrait photographer in Manitou Springs, Colorado. She posted this on her blog today and it was such great advice (and worded so wittily, in typical Charlotte style) that I just had to repost it for our clients. This is a must-read before any kind...

Meegan and Levant • Portland Oregon Wedding Photographers

At last, the long awaited addition of Meegan and Levant to our blog! We photographed their wedding on an absolutely gorgeous day at the Oregon Coast a couple of weeks ago. Truly, the day could not have been more perfect. Meegan and Levant have been best friends since college and, to hear their friends and...

TJ and Cherie • Portland Oregon Wedding Photographers

We photographed TJ and Cherie’s wedding earlier this month at the picturesque Green Villa Barns in Independance, Oregon. The gardens there are amazing and are surrounded by corn and wheat fields, which are of course a photographer’s paradise. And TJ and Cherie? Well, they couldn’t be more perfect. They are such sweet couple, so incredibly...
