Reversed Lens Photography Studios specializes in fresh, boutique portraiture for every stage in life. Our passion is capturing the emotion inherent in the human experience-- the first days of babyhood, the jubilance of childhood, the awkwardness and anticipation of the teenage years, the sweetness of love and the beginnings of a life together-- and then translating those moments into heirloom-quality art.

Our blog is a combination of all of those moments. We highlight the latest sessions from our portrait and event work, as well as little glimpses into what drives our creativity and passion. Sometimes that's a product or vendor that we're thrilled to have stumbled into, or it might just be moments from our life that we felt compelled to share.

More than anything, we hope that you'll feel our passion: for beauty, even in the most unexpected places, for uniqueness, but most of all for the true, beautiful joy of real life.

Come see your life through a different lens with us today!

Introducing baby Ben • Portland Oregon Newborn Photographers

When you grow up in a city, and are involved in the life of the city, the chances of having connections to others are infinite. Ben’s parents are a perfect example: they are best friends with the next door neighbors of one of our little girl’s best friends from preschool. Did you follow that? I...

Rachelle & Doug’s destination wedding in the Dominican Republic

Most of RLP Studio’s portrait and wedding work has been in the Pacific Northwest but of late, we’ve been getting more inquiries to take our photography work a little farther from home. Our first destination wedding (apart, of course, from the Oregon coast) was earlier this month in the Dominican Republic, in the beautiful resort...

Newborn photography offers a glimpse into a different world

In light of the post I just made it’s no wonder that I find great joy in photographing newborns. They are so new to the world, so ignorant to all of the things associated with living life. We love to catch them somewhere between four and ten days old so that they can be captured...

Documenting life and love through my own very personal lens

The decision to become a photographer was one that I don’t remember making consciously. I was recently looking through a box of old photos with my daughter and was amazed to find some shots that I’d taken in high school, long before I chose to document life and love as a career. But my eye...

I can’t believe that it’s already senior picture time! Zachary is the first of our reps that we’ll be featuring this year. He’s a really dynamic guy; he plays waterpolo and swims on the varsity level and even though he’s a bit soft spoken, he’s one of those kids who you know is just cool....

Perri & Corey’s Waterfront/Eastbank Esplanade Engagement Session

I love the location of our SE Portland studio. It’s right in the midst of the industrial district, with so many fun backgrounds that I can easily walk within a 20 block radius and find something fun! But one of the things that I love best is that the Willamette River is so close. Corey,...

Going to The Hunt (Alpenrose 47th Annual Easter Egg Hunt)

One of the wonderful things about being a parent is seeing your child experience all of the things you remember, but in their own ways and with new wonder. Our little girl turned four this weekend and so her birthday festivities included a trip to The Hunt, the annual easter egg hunt at Alpenrose Dairy...

Regan • Two-year Session• Portland Oregon Childrens Portraits

I love our Little Sprouts™ yearly sessions that are part of our Growing Series™ because I get to see them grow and change through all of the stages of their childhood. We’ve been planning Regan’s two-year old portrait session for a couple of months now and I was completely thrilled to finally get her in...

How to look your best in photographs • Portland Oregon Photographers

One of my good friends, Charlotte Geary is a wedding and portrait photographer in Manitou Springs, Colorado. She posted this on her blog today and it was such great advice (and worded so wittily, in typical Charlotte style) that I just had to repost it for our clients. This is a must-read before any kind...
